How Can I Let Go Of My Past?

Let Go of the PastDo you have something from your past that confused you, angered or upset you or burst your happy bubble? Was there an event in your life that managed to generate all of those thoughts, feelings and emotions in one foul swoop? Did you do everything to logically figure it out and tried to recall every intimate detail as if you would find the key to understanding what happened, why it happened and how you could let it go or fix it?

 

This is the trap and workings of the insane mind. You see to me, if there were a logical explanation we could in fact go ‘Oh, I get it, that wasn’t my best choice but I can let it go and move on!’ Time and time again as if on a loop, we revisit the past looking for clues, trying to get clarity. Unfortunately it’s those things that make no sense that we focus on, as if thinking about it more, we would be able to make sense of it? It actually makes it more significant and that’s what sticks you.

As a Crisis Telephone Counsellor I used to spend hours on the phone with people, sometimes the same people week after week. Every time they retold their story as if by doing that, would change something. BUT….I tell you it doesn’t! All it does is send you back to the past so you can solidify it even more and make it more real. Some people do it to recreate drama in their life or to gain sympathy so they can stay a victim to their circumstances. Most times though, I found people were just genuinely stuck in their head tapes going in and up and down and back around that literally led them nowhere except into frustration, powerlessness and depression. You know the space where you don’t matter, you don’t exist or you wish you weren’t alive. That is what tends to occur and people spend years trying to rid themselves of the memory or the addictive, obsessive, compulsive behaviour of dealing with issues that trigger them. Addictive behaviour is the idea that you can’t change it, Compulsive is the necessity to do it and Obsessive is where you think you must think about it in order to figure it out so you can figure out what’s right and what’s wrong, so you don’t repeat it again. These thoughts, feelings and emotions distract you from what will give you freedom. Asking questions like ‘why or ‘how’ will always take you back to loop through the scenario again making the groove in the record deeper and deeper so you never get free of it. That is how you create it as an implant in your mind. It takes you away from being present and happy.

If you actually started to ask questions like, ‘What would it take for this to change?’ is a much better question to ask as it opens up the energy of possibilities to change it. (This…being the thoughts & feelings). The trick is to not look for an answer to that question like we have been taught. That will take you back into conclusion which leads to judgement (right or wrong) and that cuts off awareness. Instead ask the question in wonder. Then you actually start to have random awareness’s pop into your head when you least expect it. That’s what awareness is and with that comes a possibility to let it go.

Everywhere you are using distractor implants to NOT BE, will you destroy and uncreate that? Right and wrong, good and bad, poc & pod, all 9, shorts, buoys & beyonds.*

What if you could break through the thought patterns, destroy the incessant head tapes, dissipate the emotional charge and access a sense of space and peace? Not only will you be able to let go and move on in your life, you will start to create more of what you do want. Is it time to empower yourself to realise you are not as screwed up as you think you are, that you can be happy and make better choices? Are you ready to choose something different and create greater possibilities for yourself and those around you?

If you live in the past, you cannot be present. If you are not present, you will miss out on beautiful moments, you will not get to experience the joyous sensation of truly living or the sense of peace and happiness that you ache for!

So I shall leave you with a question that I hope inspires you to choose something different.

‘How much of your past are you using to avoid the future that you could be choosing?’

    I found this a very interesting and thought provoking article. First time i have heard someone speak of the trapping loop of trying to find an logical answer to things and that this keeps us trapped in the past. Many Thanks
